What are you up to this weekend? Our AC is broken, so we’ve decamped to our friends’ house for a few days. We’re going to watch The Sheep Detectives — I think I’m more excited than the boys are! Hope you have a good one — stay safe with this wildfire air — and here are a few links from around the web…

The new series Ride or Die looks really fun and gets a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.

When A.I. is a part of the family — the profile, of a single mom, her two daughters, and a chatbot in Cleveland, blew my mind. (The New Yorker)

J.Crew is 30% off right now, and I’m eyeing this pair of shorts, dress, and swimsuit.

Ohio buckeye brownies.

“What should I put in my non-working fireplace?” Three designers answer the question. (New York Magazine)

The #1 gift all preteens/teens actually want, now and forever.

Suns out, bumps out? These maternity photos are so cool. (NYTimes gift link)

New foods at the 2026 Minnesota State Fair. I’ll take a mustache pretzel.

Our girl Jenny had to get brain surgery (!) and she’s now recovering well. Sending her all the love and pasta and meatballs. xoxoxoxo

How amazing is this room makeover?!

As someone who hates grocery shopping, I’ve found this annual membership to be a total lifesaver. (Plus, right now all new members get $60 off.)

Nobody puts zucchini in a corner.

Would you ever do a pre-nup? Or a post-nup? “Most couples don’t realize that every marriage already has a prenup, a legal contract that’s dictated by your state,” says James Sexton, Esq., a divorce attorney… “I believe couples should set their own rules, not ones written by the state legislature.”

Finally, my top 50 movies of the 21st century. What are yours??? I’m dying to hear. (Big Salad, thank you so much for your support!)

Plus, two reader comments:

Says Kim on how would (or did) you do your wedding hair: “A long time ago, I thought I was about to get married. While working in New York City, I went to Bergdorf Goodman, just for fun, and saw a stunning crystal beaded headband. It cost a small fortune, but I bought it. Alas, I did NOT get married then. Not even asked! Silly me. But four years after that, I DID get married, and that crystal headband was still my absolute choice. Worked into a swept updo, by my dear friend, a hairdresser I’d known for decades. We cried when he set it on my head, because he knew how my heart had broken in the past. I still have it. Worth every penny.”

Says Dana on my #1 trick for having fun at the beach: “When my kids were little, the biggest hit was a spray bottle. They’d fill it up in the shallow water and then spray…anything! The air! The sand! Mom’s feet! It wasn’t something they could do at home (since spray bottles were full of cleaning fluids), so it was a VERY popular tool at the beach. Have fun, you simple little beings.”
